Our story

Our Managing Director/Founder

Rooted in Country. Brewed with Purpose.

Where it begins

I am Arabana — connected to Country and culture, geographically located around Kati Thanda (Lake Eyre), the vast and ancient heart of far north South Australia. Here, the Arabana people have cared for this land for thousands of years, guided by a deep understanding that the land gives abundantly when we honour it, share its gifts, and give back in return.

That understanding lives at the core of everything Marnka & Co. is built on.

The meaning behind the name

In the Arabana language, Marnka means abundance — not excess, but the richness that comes from living in right relationship with the world around you. Having more than enough and knowing what to do with it.

It is a word that reminds us to take only what we truly need, to share what we create, and to always give back. When I was thinking about what to call this brand, nothing else came close.

A passion that became a purpose

Marnka & Co. was born from a genuine love of coffee — the ritual of it, the craft behind it, the way a single cup can ground you at the start of a day. But as that passion deepened, so did a question: why weren't more premium coffee brands being led by Indigenous Australians?

We are still in our first year — and there is something intentional about starting small. Every blend we offer is sourced ethically and sustainably, chosen with the same care the Arabana people have always applied to Country. Small batches mean we never compromise on quality. Every product that leaves Marnka & Co. has been held to the highest standard.

Guided by three principles

Honour   |   Share |   Reciprocate

These aren't just values on a page. They are the way my community has always moved through the world, and they shape every decision we make — from the growers we partner with, to the way we package our products, to how we show up for the people who choose to support us.

When you buy from Marnka & Co., you are not just buying coffee. You are participating in something bigger — supporting an Indigenous-owned and operated brand, honouring ethical trade, and sharing in an abundance that we believe should be felt by everyone in the chain.

Welcome to Marnka & Co. We are glad you found us.
