Community support

Marnka & Co. is a specialty coffee brand, 100% female-led, Indigenous Australian-owned and operated, inspired by Country.

Reciprocity is one of our guiding principles. We believe a business should leave things better than it found them, and supporting community is not something we do at the edges of the business — it is part of why the business exists.

We are also a small business. The number of requests we receive exceeds what we can responsibly commit to, so we assess every one against the same criteria and answer every one, either way.

What we look for

Every request is weighed against our guiding principles — Honour, Share, Reciprocate. We prioritise Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community organisations, programs and events; activity connected to Arabana Country and the communities we hold relationships with; youth, education, employment pathways and cultural continuity; health, wellbeing and community-building; and activity aligned with Reconciliation Week and NAIDOC Week.

What we can't support

Individuals, political campaigns, activities already held, and requests in which the benefit sought is advertising rather than a community outcome. The full list is in the policy.

How to ask

Write to us at hello@marnkaco.com at least EIGHT (8) weeks before your event, and tell us:

  • Who you are — organisation, ABN or ICN, and a contact person who can represent the organisation and the event/activity

  • What the purpose of the activity is, when and where, and what audience you are seeking to potentially reach?

  • What are you seeking in sponsorship from us, and what will it be used for?

  • Do you have any letters of support for the overall event?  Please attach.
  • What other support have you secured, including whether another coffee brand is involved

  • How would our support be acknowledged - leading up to, during and after the event?

We'll acknowledge your request within TWO (2) business days and give you a decision within TEN (10) business days. Failure to respond to ALL the questions above may result in an incomplete application that may not be fully considered.

What we ask in return

Support is offered in the spirit of reciprocity, not as advertising. If we support your activity, we ask for acknowledgement, a few photographs, and a short letter telling us what the support made possible, which we may share on our website and social media. Photographs MUST come with conditions around consent, and those matter to us: please read the policy before you send any.
